Just striving for the "American Dream" dude

The "AMERICAN DREAM" dude

The American Dream is based on wealth and is different for everyone depending on what you deem as wealth. Some people just want to be rich and money is the most important thing in their lives. Other people think more about the wealth in their personal life and having a strong sense of belonging and family. And others are just down the middle and want money to be wealthy in that aspect but also want to have a strong family and home life. Since it is different for everyone it is important to recognize the reasoning behind it.

For me, the American Dream is based less on money wealth and more on the wealth of helping people. I want to be in a position that I help others and make them happier and better people, through being an elementary school teacher. I want to be able to influence children to be good people and learn in a way that motivates that to achieve their own dreams. In a way, my "American Dream" is to help others learn and be a catalyst to their own American Dream.

When I think of the wealth, of course, the first thing that pops into my mind is money. As I think deeper money because less important because to me if you have money and are not doing anything good in the world it doesn't even matter. This being said my definition of wealth is based on family and helping others. The feeling of giving and being loved is wealth to me because you know you are worth something and are helping others feel the same way.

When looking at my feelings versus America's feelings as a whole the ideas on wealth and poverty vary greatly. America tends to view the wealthy as better and poverty as a bad thing. Poverty is of course not a good thing but since money is not everything it is not the worst. I think that being happy and having a family is more important than any amount of money you could have. America as a whole thinks that money means power and with power, you are more important. This is specifically seen in The Great Gatsby, with Gatsby himself. During the 1920s they looked down on people without money and looked up to people with money. Gatsby shows this to a great extent because he chooses to not tell about his life of poverty but instead just the life he has now which is based on money.

Overall I think the American Dream is something that is different from person to person and is based on what is most important to you. The most important thing is your wealth in a way meaning the American Dream is based on wealth.
